2008 National Council for the Social Studies Conference (NCSS)
November 14 - November 16
Houston, Texas
CMES participated in the National Council for the Social Studies annual conference in Houston, held Nov.14-16. CMES organized a Middle East Outreach booth on “International Alley,” sharing the booth with UCLA’s Center for Near Eastern Studies, the Middle East Policy Institute, and the Middle East Outreach Council. There we handed out CDs of CMES lesson plans and shared information on our programs and activities. While at the conference, Outreach Coordinator Lisa Adeli also gave two presentations, “Navigating a Minefield: Teaching about the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict” and “Muslim Responses during the Holocaust.” She also participated in developing the NCSS International Activities community.
