The University of Arizona (UA) Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) invites applications for grant awards to support research at the UA library for projects that have a Middle Eastern focus.  The competition aims primarily to increase the accessibility of the UA's extensiveMiddle East Collection, which includes holdings of over 65,250 volumes, 300 current periodicals, and 250 videos and films.  The program also supports the utilization of other UA facilities and departmental resources in research topics on the Middle East.  Grantees are invited to participate in CMES programs and to visit with UA faculty during their campus visits.

Awards of up to $500 will provide support for travel to the UA campus, parking, lodging, per diem, photocopying, fees associated with the use of campus facilities, and other miscellaneous expenses.

Priority will be given to applicants who would like to expand their current work on the Middle East or who would like to add a Middle Eastern component to their teaching and/or research programs.  Applicants who wish to develop a community outreach aspect to their research will also be considered.  Awardees will be reimbursed promptly for their expenses upon submission of original receipts.
